The new beta version of the Microsoft Expression Graphic Designer is awesome. One of the great features I just played with is the Photomontage feature.
While in Italy, I took a couple photos of the Trevi Fountain
Notice that the photos are of different sections of the building, slightly different perspectives, different pixel depths, and with different crowd shots in several common areas. I used the photomontage feature in the Expression Graphic Designer to stitch the photos together and make this amazing panoramic photo
Beware – this is a large image! However, I encourage you to click on it and zoom in – look at how there are no seams in the image and how even the crowd shots have been intelligently chosen so that the same person doesn’t appear twice in the image.
Now check out when I take the above picture and throw in this totally different perspective – we’re standing at a different angle and the focus is much different.
Impressive results, right?
I know some fancy digital cameras offer this feature – mine does – but the cameras aren’t THIS good. From now on I’ll just be taking dozens of photos of different perspectives of the same place!
